What is Rotary?
Rotary is one of the world's largest and most active service clubs. Rotarians
are people who balance their family and work with community activities.
They enjoy making contributions to their local communities, to youth and
to international projects.
They enjoy working and socialising with people from other vocations.
Rotary is about having fun and fellowship while providing service to
the local and international communities.
Qualifications for Membership
The privilege of being a Rotarian is for people who are:
" A proprietor, partner, or corporate officer of a business or profession:
or
" A person responsible for the employment of others; or
" A person holding an important or executive position: or
" Leaders of good standing in their vocation and community.
Membership is by invitation.
Classification
Each Rotary Club contains no more than two active members of each vocation.
This ensures diversity, sharing business experiences and information,
lively discussion and good fellowship.
Meetings
The Rotary Club of Loganholme, an incorporated club, usually meets weekly
over a meal on Monday evenings. The meeting programs provide interesting
insights into different topics. Rotarians are welcome to "make up"
at any club in the world. The meetings last approximately 90 minutes,
and comprise routine business, light-hearted interaction, the weekly program,
and discussion. There are additional opportunities for fellowship and
social enjoyment, including partners.
Costs
The membership fee is $100 per half year, prorata for new members and
a $50 once only joining fee. The two-course meal costs $22.
Activities
Activities range from local community projects, assistance to youth, youth
exchange and vocational programs, to international support for projects
in several countries.
Some of the recent activities undertaken by the club include:
" Fundraising for the Rotary Overseas Medical Aid for Children program
via a day driving a racecar for 10 laps of a raceway.

Unit.

The Object of Rotary
is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise
and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the
recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying
of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to service society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's
personal, business and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill,
and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons
united in the ideal of service.
